DOUBLE GOLD GLORY FOR WOODFORDE’S AT INTERNATIONAL BEER AWARDS
The Woodforde’s team have won big at a European beer competition – including a prestigious double gold medal for one of our most iconic ales.
Nelson’s – named in honour of Norfolk’s most famous son – was crowned a double gold medal winner at this year’s European Beer Challenge following a judging event in London last month.
The annual challenge celebrates the best beers from across the continent, including some of the biggest and most recognisable beers on the planet.
Our popular Wherry amber ale was also named a gold winner, while our Albion stout took home a silver medal from the judges.
Bruce Ash, our Brewing Manager, said: “All of us at Woodforde’s are thrilled to have won such prestigious awards – especially the coveted double gold medal.
“Both Nelson’s and Wherry are synonymous with Norfolk, so it is great to see them receive international recognition once again.
“Our Albion stout is quickly making a name for itself thanks to its distinctive smooth and creamy flavours that can rival any of the market leaders.
“These are exciting times for the brewery and we’re looking forward to getting our hands on more awards in the future.”
We have won more than 130 awards in our 42-year history, including two Champion Beer of Britain Medals for our Wherry and Nog ales.
CEO Joe Parks added: “It is brilliant to once again put Norfolk on the map as the home of great beer.
“We are famed for our Maris Otter barley for a reason – and that’s for it being the key ingredient for the perfect pint.
“These awards are a testament to our fantastic brewing team who continue earn us international recognition year after year.
“We wouldn’t be where we are today were it not for their passion for our craft and county.”
