Phoenix IPA Rises Again This May

Woodforde’s popular seasonal release, Phoenix IPA, is making a welcome comeback this May, bringing its bright citrus character and Southern Hemisphere flair back to pubs across the region.

First brewed in 1983 following the brewery’s return to Norfolk after a major fire, Phoenix IPA has long represented renewal and resilience for Woodforde’s. Reintroduced last year as a Southern Hemisphere-style IPA, the beer quickly became a favourite among drinkers — and now returns for another limited seasonal run.

Pouring a clear golden hue at 4.2% ABV, this year’s Phoenix IPA once again showcases an expressive blend of New Zealand and Australian hops. Nelson Sauvin, Motueka, Nectaron and Vic Secret combine to deliver layers of grapefruit, lime, white grape and orange, creating a crisp and refreshing pint packed with aromatic character.

Head Brewer Craig Bennett said:

“We had such a fantastic response to Phoenix IPA last year that we knew we had to bring it back. It’s crisp, sessionable, and packed with character – the perfect May pint.”

“The Southern Hemisphere hops bring a whole new dimension to the style, offering subtlety, tropical aromas, and citrusy freshness that’s too often overlooked in the UK.”

Available exclusively in cask throughout May, Phoenix IPA will only be around for a limited time while stocks last.

CEO Paul Sullivan added:

“Phoenix IPA tells a story of transformation – both of the beer and the brewery behind it.”

“Its return highlights our commitment to keeping cask beer exciting, diverse and deeply rooted in storytelling. With two specials every month, we’re proud to give publicans and drinkers across East Anglia something to shout about.”
