Woodforde’s becomes proud partner of The Cask Project
Woodforde’s Brewery is proud to announce we are a new regional partner for The Cask Project.
The exciting campaign, spearheaded by the Morning Advertiser, aims to re-invigorate the cask market, introducing the next generation to this unique product.
Cask has always been a passion at Woodforde’s so we are delighted to be part of this important campaign.
Woodforde’s Head brewer Aaron Taubman said: “Cask is the ultimate natural beer.
“It is something that makes pubs in the UK so special, a unique product you just don’t get anywhere else.
“We have a proud history of producing cask beer at Woodforde’s and it’s always a treat seeing a pint you have developed enjoyed by patrons straight from the cask.”
Sadly, cask beer has been on the decline recently, with some seeing it as old fashioned.
The Cask Project aims to change that perception, showcasing the wealth of incredible cask ales available across the country and quelling some of the myths surrounding it.
The partnership comes as Woodforde’s launches its new range of cask ales - the Brewers Signature Range – for on-trade customers.
Each of Woodforde’s brewers have developed their own cask ale, with the first coming from head brewer Aaron – Hopstar, a thirst-quenching 3.4% session IPA.
This month’s offering is High and Rye, a 4.8% ruby red IPA developed by Woodforde’s Brewery Engineer Manager, Trevor Middleton, who has more than 30 years of brewing experience.
Customers can find out more about each pint and its brewer by scanning the QR code on each brew’s pump clip.
Aaron added: “We are excited to be part of this brilliant campaign.
“We have lots planned with our Brewers Signature Range, with a new ale for people to try every month of the year.
“We hope the campaign spurs more people to give cask a try, particularly young people who may be new to it.”
The Morning Advertiser associate features editor Gary Lloyd said: “We at The Morning Advertiser are delighted to have Woodforde’s come on board with The Cask Project.
“Cask beer is vital to the on-trade and a product that can only be properly enjoyed in pubs.
“As a result, the Covid pandemic was hugely damaging for the cask sector as pubs were shut down, but since then we believe it is coming back to more than holding its own and, from talking to breweries that specialise in cask ale, many are seeing cask volume sales increase.
“Woodfordes is at the forefront of the good news story for cask ale but we need people at the bar to buy it – that means ensuring the flavours offered and the quality has to be immaculate – and it is rarely a problem at the brewery.
“Pub licensees must learn how to store and serve cask properly because there is only a three-day window of great beer in each cask or pin. As a brewer, you can’t let a pub waste that.
“You won’t find cask beer as abundantly or at all outside the UK and that’s what needs to be shouted about.
“Woodforde’s is on the front foot and its recent introduction of the Brewers Signature range to go alongside its core offer for the on-trade gives customers an even better choice.
“It is clear new head brewer Aaron Taubman is fully invested and using Woodforde’s wooden mash tun ensures tradition combines with new ideas and the success story will continue for the Norfolk brewery.”
