Relaunched seasonal special celebrates Woodforde’s rise from the ashes
A popular seasonal beer celebrating our rise from the ashes has been relaunched with exciting new flavours.
We are proud to relaunch our Phoenix IPA – first brewed in 1983 to mark our return to Norfolk following a devastating fire.
The relaunch of Phoenix IPA, now styled as a “Southern Hemisphere IPA”, is a nod to our resilience and evolution as a brewery.
The new 4.2% beer brewed exclusively using New Zealand and Australian hops, melding Nelson Sauvin, Moteuka, Nectaron and Vik Secret for a vibrant fruity fusion.
Punters can expect flavours of passionfruit, lemon and lime alongside tropical aromas, finished with a smooth mouthfeel.
Aaron Taubman, Head Brewer at Woodforde’s, said: “I’m really excited to relaunch a beer that has a very special place in our hearts here at Woodforde’s.
“This is a crisp, pale and sessionable beer that despite its delicate flavours is still a real adventure for the senses.
“New Zealand and Australian hops are easily overshadowed by their punchier American and British cousins – and we wanted to showcase what so many British drinkers are missing out on.”
Phoenix IPA is exclusively available in cask throughout May, with pubs wanting to stock it behind their bar urged to order now to avoid disappointment.
Joe Parks, Woodforde’s CEO, added: “Our brewery has a rich history that hasn’t been without its twists and turns.
“Reimagining Phoenix IPA is a testament to the way our brewery has evolved and shown resilience over the years.
“We continue to produce two specials a month that are going down incredibly well across East Anglia.
“Offering our customers such a wide range of cask options is paramount to helping save cask and cementing its place as a vital feature of the Great British pub.”
