‘Rosehip Red’ unveiled as May Brewer Signature
Rosehips are red, Volt bottles’ blue – and our May Brewer Signature is quite special too.
Rosehip Red, the brainchild of Brewer Sam Hancock, is brewed using its namesake fruit alongside American hops to deliver tart fruity flavours in every sip.
The 4.5% American Red Ale’s distinctive colour comes from the rye malts used in the brewing process, making for an even more rich, zesty pint.
Sam said he enjoyed the chance to experiment with new ingredients alongside our Head Brewer, Aaron Taubman.
He said: “I like the way you can introduce different things to beers that aren’t just generic hops and malt.
“I thought it would be a great idea to add something like rosehip which is similar to hops but adds a different flavour profile.”
Aside from their use in beer, rosehips are also used in central Europe and Scandinavia to create wines, spirits and jams.
They have also been used to brew mead for centuries.
Sam added: “I’m passionate about beer as I love the process and use of natural ingredients. I love the diverse recipes you can create.
“I also just love brewery life.”
