Wherry named in UK’s top 50 beers
Our iconic Wherry – Norfolk’s most beloved ale – has been named the 41st best beer in the UK by a major beer festival organiser.
We are Beer, the name behind the popular London Craft Beer Festival and Bristol Craft Beer Festival, ranked Wherry 41st in its Top 50 UK Beers 2026.
It is the latest accolade for our multi-award-winning amber ale, which has twice been crowned Champion Beer of Britain by CAMRA.
Paul Sullivan, our CEO, said: “We are delighted to see Wherry ranked among the biggest and best beers our country has to offer.
“Wherry was the first beer we ever brewed and only recently celebrated its 45th birthday. To still be receiving national recognition today is proof of its standing as a best-in-class amber ale.
“We are confident there will be plenty more to come as more people enjoy the true taste of Norfolk for the first time.”
Paul added Wherry’s perfectly balanced flavours are what makes the 3.8% vegan-friendly ale such a popular choice at the bar.
He said: “Wherry is full of rich flavours and floral aromas which come together in perfect harmony.
“You’ve got the refreshing grapefruit flavours from the hops, a lemony aroma and the light, sweet and biscuity notes of the malts.
“It’s a time-honoured craft in a pint – and something we are all hugely proud of.”
All breweries included in the top 50 will be invited to a celebration event at the London Craft Beer Festival on Friday, July 17.
Certificates will be awarded by Joe Mackertich from Time Out and Jaega Wise from BBC Good Food.
The news comes as we look to launch our upcoming Wherry competition later this month, which will see participating pubs display QR codes which customers can scan for a chance to win a holiday in 2027.
Wherry can be found on cask in pubs across East Anglia and the East Midlands – and beer fans can also get their hands on bottles and mini kegs to enjoy at home via our online store.
