Wherry Wins CAMRA Gold
Our Supreme Champion Beer of Britain, Wherry, has added yet another award to its trophy cabinet – sharing the stage with another cracking Norfolk pint.
We are pleased to announce Wherry won Gold in the Session Beers category at this year’s Norwich & District CAMRA Cask Beer of the Year Awards, shared with a seasonal special from a multi-award-winning local brewery.
And we are delighted to share… that brewery was us! With our popular special Flagondry also taking home the joint award.
Aaron Taubman, our Head Brewer, said: “We were a little shocked to hear another session beer could come close to Wherry – but when we heard it was Flagondry sharing the stage, we weren’t surprised at all!
“Both beers epitomise everything great about Nelson’s County and the rich brewing tradition of Norfolk. That’s especially true when it comes to our beloved Wherry.
“Norfolk is and always will be our heartland. The waters that flow beneath our home in Woodbastwick and the Maris Otter barley that grows in our fields are what make a pint of Woodforde’s beer so special.
“We are hugely grateful to Norwich & District CAMRA for the awards and their continued support of our brewery.”
Wherry needs no introduction – with its mighty, zesty flavours and big floral aromas making for the perfect amber ale.
It was the first beer in our arsenal and has twice been crowned Supreme Champion Beer of Britain, alongside numerous other trophy wins.
Its latest win will proudly be displayed above pump clips in the form of a crown, recognising its place on the throne as Norfolk’s most famous pint.
Flagondry is a seasonal special last behind the bar in Summer 2023, brewed using the finest Norfolk honey and American and New Zealand hops.
